At Applewood Winery we are Riesling Zealots!  Why?  Riesling is the winemakers wine.  It's also the ultimate foodies wine.  That's why we are hosting this event to show how well Riesling, especially New York Riesling pairs with food.

I'm excited about the 2011 NY Riesling Experience because Riesling is the most versatile, complex, and diverse of the "Old World" grapes.  But we want to show that Riesling is cool.  NY vineyards and winemakers are turning out world class Rieslings.

Why does Riesling pair so well with food.  Just look at a few of the terms I found on the internet to describe the flavor of Rieslings: Pineapple  chalkiness, honey, fresh, bright, acidic, crisp, solid, golden, peach,  clove, white pepper, subtle,  grapefruit, pear, apple, clean, citrus, apricot, fruit driven, Jasmine, Honey Suckle, Spearmint, Wet Stone,  flint, Mineral, Cucumber, Dill, African Violet, Gooseberry, Lime, Petroleum, Peach, Lavender, Bay Leaf.

How can so many terms describe one grape!  That's why Riesling is the coolest grape in the world.

Come visit the The NY Riesling Experience May 7th & 8th 2011, 12-5pm at our winery in Warwick.

Tickets available here.

Vin : 2011 NY Riesling Experience
Thank you for a great Saturday! The company I came with enjoyed everything. You complimented the food with your Rieslings perfectly. My personal favorite was the "Traminette" paired with the "Jerky Turkey Sliders" I was thinking about doing the tasting again just for another serving of your sliders smilies/grin.gif. We also enjoyed the "Sweet Riesling" and the "Juicy Pear & Riesling Cocktail" Thank you and we will be looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Applewood wine is my favorite! It was a great experience and the food was excellent! I was hoping that the recipes would be online. Any chance on that? Look forward to another great experience soon!
