Our Frostbite Weekend was a great success and everybody loved the Shepherds Pie that we served.  So many people have asked for it that we decided to put the recipe up to share with everyone.  Enjoy!

 Do a Wine Tasting with us! The Applewood Winery in Warwick NY will be open Valentines weekend only Sat. the 11th and Sunday the 12th from 11-5pm.  The winery will close but reopen March2rd for the 2012 season Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11-5 pm starting on March 3rd.

The following recipes are courtesy of Suzanne Donovan our resident chef.  She created these after talking with us and tasting the Ciders.  We hope you enjoy them.

After great demand here is the recipe from around the world when we represented Cuba.  I will post the recipe for the Cuban Pork with Mojo Sauce next week.

Creamy Key Lime Stuffed Cannolis with Mango Riesling Sauce

Chicken Masala with Fresh Herbs

• 2 cups cilantro leaves
• 1 cup mint leaves
• 1 jalapeño, coarsely chopped
• 4 garlic cloves, crushed
• 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
• 1/2 cup water
• 2 tablespoons canola oil
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 8 skinless, boneless chicken thighs (1 3/4 pounds), cut into 1-inch pieces
• 1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
• 1 teaspoon cumin
• ½ teaspoon curry powder
• ½  teaspoon cinnamon
• ½  teaspoon ground cardamom
• 1/8  teaspoon ground cloves
• 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
• Kosher salt
• Basmati rice, for serving

In a blender, combine the cilantro, mint, jalapeño, garlic, lemon juice and water and puree until smooth.  Season with a little salt.

Michele and I were home last night and did not know what to make for dinner. So we took out our Food & Wine Annual Cookbook and started looking around for recipes.

At Applewood Winery we are Riesling Zealots!  Why?  Riesling is the winemakers wine.  It's also the ultimate foodies wine.  That's why we are hosting this event to show how well Riesling, especially New York Riesling pairs with food.
